NGS has assembled a portfolio of highly flexible and well connected storage assets across several strategic locations throughout North America. The company develops, owns and operates assets on behalf of our customers and energy storage needs of the United States natural gas grid providing flexibility and reliability on a real time basis.
NGS has many storage projects in varying stages of development and operation. Those publically announced are as follows:
Tres Palacios Gas Storage LLC
Tres Palacios commenced gas storage operations on October 1, 2008. The facility is located in Wharton/Matagorda counties of Texas consisting of natural gas storage caverns, pipelines and multiple interstate and intrastate interconnections. Tres Palacios is currently operating over 27 Bcf of working gas capacity and this summer will increase the capacity by the addition of an incremental cavern in July. Future expansions are planned for the increasing need for storage to serve the Texas, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and Mexico markets. Tres Palacios is currently the only operating independent fully FERC regulated facility in Texas.
Leaf River Energy Center LLC
In January 2009, Leaf River commenced construction of a new green-field salt storage facility strategically located on the pipelines serving the SE and NE market areas. Leaf River is planned to begin storage operations no later than April 2011. Leaf River will have 6 interstate interconnects connecting the facility to Sonat, Tennessee, Gulf South, Mid Continent Express, Destin and Transco.
Arizona Natural Gas Storage LLC
NGS recently announced a new bedded salt underground salt project in Pinal County, Arizona. On December 15, 2009, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) accepted ANGS’ request for approval to use the pre-filing procedures and establish a pre-filing docket (PF10-3-000). Upon receipt of required permits, ANGS will proceed with the development of the project with a currently projected in service of 2012/2013.
Windy Hill Gas Storage LLC
In 2007, NGS acquired the Windy Hill Gas Storage project, a bedded salt storage project near the Cheyenne Hub in Morgan County, Colorado. Windy Hill owns the land, water and disposal rights to develop a large scale combination natural gas and compressed air storage facility strategically located in the renewable energy corridor in Colorado.
